Covid-19 Client Update

Effective March 16, 2020

Hello everyone,

It is with a heavy heart, but with your and my family’s health, and our community’s health and wellness as my #1 priority, I have temporarily suspended appointments at my office due to the recent Covid-19 outbreak.

It's tough to practice social distancing while giving massages so it is for the best that I temporarily stop seeing clients. I have not experienced any symptoms and as far as I know, I have not been exposed to anyone who is positive, but I don't want to chance that I may become infected and act as a vector for this disease. I want to do my part to make sure that the people in my community who may truly need to access lifesaving health care services in the coming weeks will have access to those services, so I am shutting things down and staying close to home.

Your health and wellness is my absolute first concern. In the over 20 years that I have been practicing, I have always maintained a high sanitary standard, complete with thorough handwashing before and after each client (way before it was in style!) along with careful laundering of all sheets, blankets, and pillowcases - any linens that come in contact with you - after each session. I thoroughly disinfectant and clean in between appointments and schedule my appointments through the day in a way that allows plenty of time for me to properly clean between sessions, from the face cradle and the table you lay on to receive your treatment, to the seat that you sit on while getting dressed. I wrap up my day by washing all massage linens at home with hot water, unscented laundry detergent, and laundry sanitizer.

Unfortunately, even with all these sanitary precautions, I don’t believe that this is enough to prevent me from possibly spreading Covid-19 during our sessions.  I don’t believe that my typical advice during cold and flu season - to stay home if ill or if you have symptoms or a fever - adequately covers reducing the spreading of Covid-19 as it appears that carriers of the infection may not show any symptoms, and be infectious for several days before symptoms do appear. This, coupled with being in a small room with one another for an extended period during your massage appointment and knowing that several of you are either dealing with chronic illnesses or that you many of care for family members who may be more susceptible to complications from Covid-19, right now, I can’t be 100% sure that I would not be adding to the problem.

As a small business owner, this has been an extremely difficult decision, one that I know many, many other small businesses are making, by force or by choice and know that it is a real sacrifice for all of us who are closing down to help stop the spread of Covid-19. I will be OK for the next few weeks, but I will be anxious to get back to work ASAP and will keep you all updated and hope that we are all back to work, sooner rather than later.

I will be assessing this situation week-by-week with hopes of being up and running soon, but suspect that this moratorium will last into April.

Hang in there everyone and thank you all for doing your part, and check back often for updates on re-opening for business!

Stay safe and stay healthy,
